Automated Garbage Collection Instructions

•Please place your container 3 feet away from all trees, mailboxes, parked cars, utility poles or anything else that could obstruct the automated arm. Cans should not block pedestrian access on sidewalks or impede traffic.  This will ensure safe collection of your container and prevent damage to your property.

• Place the container within 2 feet of the curb, with the arrow marked on the lid, pointed towards the street by 6:30 a.m. on your regular collection day.

Large/Bulk/Bagged Items

Any bulk item (defined by any item that will not fit into the city provided 90-gallon can such as furniture, mattresses, chairs, table, etc.) or additional bags of leaves/trash that do not fit in the 90-gallon barrel will be collected on your regular garbage day, with a maximum of 10 items.

Yard Waste

Yard waste is collected on the same day as your household garbage in 32-gallon cans or bundles at the curb tied in twine. All yard waste must be in 32-gallon cans or bundles, limited to 1.5 cubic yards in volume (1.5 cubic yards is equal to 8 cans or bundles). Yard waste is to be placed out next to your household trash.

Bulky Yard Waste

Yard waste too bulky to be containerized such as branches and other vegetative materials must be cut into sections no longer than 4 feet in length and 6 inches in diameter, then bundled with twine in arm size manageable bundles. Please do not tape bundles or mix paper or plastic in as this will contaminate the recycling process for the entire load and will result in yard waste not being collected. Piles of yard waste in excess of 1.5 cubic yards can be collected by special arrangement with the sanitation division for additional cost. Please make arrangements by calling 724-1550, ext 2002.

Responsible Parties

Please note that it is the responsibility of all tree surgeons, nurseries, lawn care services and landscaping contractors, or any individual or company doing work on private property, to remove from the premises all residue and rubbish resulting from said work. These above mentioned items shall be disposed of at the expenses of the owner or contractor.
